Scott has been active as a photojournalist and freelance photographer for the past 20 years. His work has been recognized with numerous national, state, and regional awards.

Throughout the years Scott has excelled in documenting events (concerts, sports, community, weddings, and private events) preferring to use a candid approach.

In 2006 Scott was accepted and attended the prestigious Stan Kalish Picture Editing Workshop at Ball State University, a week long gathering of the industries most decorated photo editors and art directors.

Scott always prided himself on creating an atmosphere for photographic excellence. As an editor, Scott was able to recruit photographers that he knew would excel under his leadership and principles. In 2007, Scott and his staff were recognized with a record number of visual awards, the most in the publications 113-year history.

In August of 2008 Scott launched a new web project titled OnLaGrange.com.

Scott continued his commitment to strong community journalism through the content of this site. In January of 2010 Scott sold his stake in OnLaGrange.com to a local competitor.

Currently Scott serves as Director of Communications for Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL.

Scott also provides images for The Chicago Zoological Society / Brookfield Zoo serving as a part-time staff photographer. In this effort Scott helps the zoo carry out their mission of inspiring conservation leadership.

Scott continues to operate his freelance business, Scott Hardesty Photography, which has gained a reputation for producing unique, high quality, photographic images.
